Our fast-growing and lively Junior Choir has a great time singing a wide variety of different styles of music, developing singing and musicianship skills and making new friends.
We sing in unison and in harmony, accompanied and a capella. Current and recent repertoire includes R Kelly’s I believe I can fly, Panis Angelicus by César Franck, South African freedom song Azikatale and many other songs. We perform at the Conservatoire and in other venues locally. We’re really excited to be preparing for a collaborative performance this term with the Aircraft Circus junior circus school in Woolwich, the finale of which will see us singing whilst the circus artists perform. If the singing and the fun were not enough, members of our Junior Choir get experience in the skills needed for the aural tests in the ABRSM grades 1-3. Many of these skills will also stand them in good stead for the higher grades, for example; singing back melodies, clapping rhythms, identifying differences in pitch and rhythm and answering questions about the pieces they are singing using musical vocabulary. New members are always welcome – don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to find out more!
