Artists of all experience levels are very welcome to our practical introduction to screen printing on paper using hand-cut stencils.
Screen printing is a way of creating copies of an image: ink is forced onto paper through mesh and a stencil cut to the required design to create a printed image. This can be repeated many times, overlapping or in different colours to create the desired effect. We will start with simple techniques that can build up to sophisticated multicoloured results. Students will gain confidence and skills as they build their knowledge over the length of the course, finally working on a personal project to take home. During the course, we will demonstrate the techniques needed to build and stretch screens without the need to resort to specialist equipment suppliers.
