Welcome to the Adult Art Online section. Our tutors have really come through on this one. Almost all of our adult art courses are still running! You will of course need some basic resources, but the list of things to buy will be emailed to your by your tutor in good time, and there won't be too much. Many of them are focusing on what can be done with what you have, and will no doubt be able to deliver the brilliant art tuition they normally do.

Watercolour - Katie MacBride

Watercolour Online

Thursdays 10.00 - 12.30, 23 April – 16 July (12 weeks, £264)

The course covers all aspects of working with watercolour based paints and including paints, paper, brushes, gilding on paper, marbling, resists, mixed media and combining watercolour with other materials. We understand that online teaching may not suit all our learners, and the course tutor Rachel Levitas is very willing to adapt the course delivery to fit all students. The Evening Studio

The Evening Studio Online

The Evening Studio provides the perfect setting to explore and develop drawing and painting techniques and build a portfolio of your own unique work. Suitable for those drawing or painting for the first time or if you are returning to improve and develop your practice. As this is an online course, you will need some art materials. Print Making

Experimental Printmaking At Home Online

Wednesdays 19.00 - 21.00 22 April – 15 July (12 weeks, £228)

Learn new ways to create art by making handmade prints at home using very basic and cheap equipment, making Reduction lino/vinyl-cut prints, Mono-Prints, Collage with Photo-Transfer, Paper Cut Stencil Prints. You will need access to; A water-washable surface somewhere in the house with plenty of light, a water tap or washing up hose, a clean sink or washing up bowl, household tablespoon(s), various recycled jam jars, a heavy stainless steel rolling pin, sharp paper scissors/pack of scalpels, a domestic/work inkjet printer (ideally this should be a laser printer).

Portrait D&P

Portrait Drawing & Painting Online

Fridays 18.30 - 20.30, 24 April – 26 June (8 weeks, £144)

Join in a regular online session and keep creative during lockdown. The portrait will be our primary focus as we aim to develop our technical know-how and personal expression.  We will use whatever mediums are to hand and work from a variety of subjects, including live models (via the wonders of modern technology), reference material, and ourselves! I will be doing some live demonstrations using video link (ZOOM) and there will be plenty of opportunities to bring your own work to discuss in a group setting. Painting T&M

Painting Materials & Techniques Online

Wednesdays 12.30 - 15.30, 22 April – 15 July (12 weeks, £264)

This course explores a variety of painting techniques and materials in depth over a twelve week period. Students will be sent a PowerPoint file of images each week, before the class. Simon will start each session with as a talk, akin to what he normally delivers at The Conservatoire, using the PowerPoint as reference. Students will be able to engage with the talk as he delivers it. This will be followed by a brief Q & A with the students. Simon will then do a live demonstration on camera that students can watch and takes notes from, before starting their individual pieces. Students can then work at their own pace for the duration of the class, at which point Simon will be on standby to monitor, advise and help where necessary. The classes will conclude with a 15-minute group crit of work made during the session. As this is an online course, you will need to have some basic materials to participate including pencils, acrylic paints, watercolour paints, gouache paints, inks, cartridge paper, paint brushes, an old plate to use as a palette, an old jar for water and a putty rubber. Simon Willems will provide a full list of materials which will be available to purchase online.
