A unique and very popular one-year introduction to six instruments for those who would like to try out what they would like to learn. Children learn in small groups, spending half a term on each of the following: violin, trombone, guitar, piano, flute and percussion. Classes include a mixture of songs, musical games, instrumental technique and creative projects.
Over the course of the year the children develop their skills in rhythm, pitch, notation, performance and composition, as well as learning the basic technique for playing each instrument. Each half term includes a ‘Show & Share’ class, where all the children come together to perform on their instruments, and an opportunity for friends and family to visit their lesson and hear them play. At the end of the year there is a ‘Celebration’ Concert.
We will be concentrating more than ever on chamber and ensemble work – taking the first steps toward a future Roundabout Orchestra!
We are now taking expessions of interest for the September 2017 intakes.
