Soundstart - Early Years Music

For over twenty years, our SoundStart classes have been taught by professionally qualified and experienced teachers who work regularly with nationally recognised authorities in this specialist field. The classes aim to develop an enthusiasm for music and provide a good foundation for those children who go on to learn an instrument. They also encourage parents and carers to enjoy music with their children. As children progress through the Sound Start programme their skills and knowledge gain in awareness and depth. What age can my child start? Our classes start from 4 months old. You are welcome to bring younger babies with an older child to those classes which are designated Family Music groups – you won’t be charged for children under 4 months at the time of enrolment. Children over 4 months at the time of enrolment will be charged at the concessionary rate. Occasional Free Taster Sessions take place throughout the year. They provide a relaxed way for parents and children to find out more about our art and music programmes for children. Contact Reception to be added to our Taster Session info list. Next free taster is Saturday 24th May 2 sessions 10am and 11am Combined art and music taster session for the under 6s

Music for Us - 0-4 yrs : £77 for 11 sessions (£74 for 2nd child) :

0-4 yrs
( One child per adult )

starts 21st April

One child per adult

These classes are designed for children under 4 and their parents/carers. In a relaxed and friendly environment children and adults will learn new songs and also sing some old favourites. There will be exploration of sounds using a variety of percussion instruments, and plenty of opportunity to become aware of how the body can move to music. The activities will slowly introduce the children to a variety of musical as well as social concepts which include interaction with other children, confidence building, communicative development, coordination and turn taking. All three tutors approach teaching and learning through play and the main aim of the sessions are for adults and children to have fun together. The classes are for one child per adult and are taught in specific age groups, allowing for progression. So dust off your singing voice and be prepared to dance, create music and have a great time with your child.

Our Music for Us classes are based on one parent/carer to one child. Please check below as age groups vary. NB. Babies can join from 4 months old.
