Alice Thompson spent an exciting summer 2016 touring with the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, performing with them as their principal flute in London at the BBC Proms and in Germany and Italy.
Now back in London, Alice continues to play with Southbank Sinfonia 2016 and will perform with them as soloist in the first part of the Ibert flute concerto in mid October. Before commencing Southbank Sinfonia in January 2016, Alice completed her Master of Music Degree (July 2015) at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague under the tutelage of Thies Roorda. Her studies were generously supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and the Musicians Benevolent Fund. She then toured Europe as principal flute and principal piccolo with the European Union
Youth Orchestra. In 2012 Alice graduated with First Class Honours from her BMus (Hons) Performance Degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Here, she studied with Anna Noakes. She was also awarded the TCM Trust's Silver Medal Award for her outstanding contribution to the Woodwind, Brass and Percussion department.
