Todor Nikolaev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated with distinction the National School of Music “L. Pipkov” in Sofia and continued his education in the renowned Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UK, where he graduates with Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in the violin classes of Prof. Yfrah Neaman and Prof. John Glickman. Todor is a prizewinner from various international violin competitions in Czech Republic, Romania and Bulgaria. He is a regular soloist of a number of chamber and symphony orchestras in the UK and Bulgaria and participates in various international music festivals for classical music and jazz in both same countries. As a soloist and a member of various chamber groups Todor has worked with musicians such as Nigel Kennedy, Sir Colin Davis, Rachel Podger, Melos and Takacz Quartets. He has given several world premières of works by British and Bulgarian composers, among others, Michael Finnissy, Philip Sawyers, Dabrinka Tabakova. Todor has recordings for BBC Radio 3, RAI, Bulgarian National Television and Radio. Todor is a co-founder of the chamber ensemble “Inspirity” with which they became the first classical music group to enter the charts of the renowned magazine for pop and rock mucic NME. Also “Inspirity” have released a CD for the “Clarinet Classics” label with music by Sir Richard Rodney Bennett which was highly acclaimed by the British classical music critics' magazines. Todor's repertoire includes music from nearly all periods and genres. Together with his performing career Todor is established as a violin, viola and chamber music teacher at the Blackheath Conservatoire of Music and Arts, London, St. Swithun's School, Winchester and Young Music Makers, London.
