Voice Of Zanzibar 1

Voice Of Zanzibar (Art, 3-5 yrs)

Tuesday 1st June, 10am - 12pm (£20)

Lubaina Himid was born in Zanzibar and moved to the UK when she was 4. Her work explores identity and gives voice to the marginalised. She loves bright colours and shapes, makes portraits but also paints on doors, plates and jelly moulds and makes free-standing cut out figures. You will create your own full size person using paint, bleeding tissue paper and collage. Alongside this activity you will also collage an assembled figure on to paper plates.

Madame Butterfly 1

Madame Butterfly (Art, 3-5 yrs)

Tuesday 1st June, 1.30pm - 3.30pm (£20)

Inspired by Helen Frankenthaler’s Exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery, you will use ready mix and watercolour paint in different consistencies. Students will find ways of moving paint around on a surface to create an abstract work. You will mask out areas to create stencils and see the results; use large brushes and have fun playing with paint on a surface.

Play Violin 4

Roundabout Taster Session (Music, 5-7 yrs)

Tuesday 1st June, 9.30am - 12pm (£25)

Come along to this short Roundabout-style course which aims to give current Roundabout students the opportunity to revisit any instrument that they didn’t have a chance to learn about on their year-long course due to COVID restrictions. New students are welcome to come along to find out what Roundabout it all about before committing to the year-long programme.

Tiny Tots (Music, 6-18 months)

Explore the sounds of spring together using the Conservatoire’s early years instruments and cuddly spring toys. Introduce the babies to each other and to the sounds in a gentle, caring environment. Please note that parents/carers need to stay with their children for this course.

Toddler Tunes (Music, 18mths - 3yrs)

Wednesday 2nd June, 11am - 11.45am (£9)

Join the bugs, birds and bees to engage with spontaneous music making. Your toddlers will be encouraged to discover new instruments and explore dynamics through the theme of the insect world. They will move and sing along with some fun insects in this immersive music lesson tailored to those ‘busy bee’ toddlers! Please note that parents/carers need to stay with their children for this course.

Moving With Nature (Drama, 4-7 yrs)

Wednesday 2nd June, 10am - 11am / 11.15am - 12.15pm (£9 per session)

How does the wind move? How does a leaf crumple or a butterfly fly? Using the natural elements around us; wind, water and earth and natural objects such as grass, leaves, bugs and twigs together we will explore the motion of the elements and natural objects to create movement and short dances. It is a way to connect with the environment, to play and be creative. Please note that some of this class will be in our Creativity Garden so please dress appropriately!

Ukulele for Beginners (Music, 3-5 yrs)

Come try out the ukulele and get started on the right note! Join us on this fun-filled introduction to the instrument. Learn to play your first song and have fun making music. Participants will learn the basics, under the guidance of a professional musician. All levels are welcome; bring your own instrument or borrow one of ours.

Explorers 1

Explorers! (Drama, 4-7 yrs)

Thursday 3rd June, 9.30am - 3.30pm (£50)

A day of celebrating being able to have fun, roam free & play! Come and join the fun at this interactive storytelling session where we will explore parks, lakes, mountains and any other landmarks you fancy! Let’s get creative and invent our own ‘outdoor games’ to play; we may well have a teddy bears picnic! Please bring a cuddly toy along to join in the workshop with you. Let’s create a summer festival in the studio – play our garden games, have a picnic & boogie to some songs..

Turner 1

Turner's Modern World (Art, 3-5 yrs)

Friday 4th June, 10am - 12pm (£20)

This class will look at Turner's landscapes inspired by the exhibition at Tate Britain. Paying particular attention to those paintings done at sea, participants will try to recreate effects using wax crayons and watercolours to make individual seascape paintings.

Arctic 1

Exploring The Arctic (Art, 3-5 yrs)

Friday 4th June, 1.30pm - 3.30pm (£20)

The exhibition at the British Museum explores the creativity of Arctic Peoples. Be transported to the frozen North, and make a landscape of snow and ice. You can think about the creatures you might see there, how people live and adapt, and make some puppets.
