John Keeley steps down as Principal

It is with sadness, that the Board announces that John Keeley has decided to step down as Principal of the Conservatoire for personal reasons.

John has led the Conservatoire for three successful years.

Thea Sakkas, co-chair of the Board, said “The Board are very grateful to John for his leadership and all that he’s achieved. Including the innovative outreach work that he has developed – and the bursary programme he’s championed to make sure more people can access the Conservatoire. We wish him the very best for his future.”

John Keeley added “It has been a privilege to be Principal of the Conservatoire – and to work with all our talented staff and tutors. While it’s very difficult to leave – it is the right decision for me personally at this time.

I look forward to seeing the Conservatoire continue to flourish and prosper – and I know it will, with the support and loyalty of our wonderful students.”

In the meantime, Clare Cornwell will be stepping in as Interim CEO to assist with the operational management and the transition to a new CEO. The Board will appoint the next CEO in due course, but will keep the timing under review due to the current Coronavirus crisis.
