We’re doing The Big Give Christmas Challenge this year, the UKs biggest match-funding campaign.

For one week only, 28 Nov – 5 Dec, help us reach our target. All the money raised by the Big Give platform will be doubled, meaning One donation - Twice the impact!

How can you help?

We are fundraising to provide free art and music classes for refugees and asylum seekers.

This programme offers people of all ages who have fled war and persecution the chance to experience high quality teaching in art and music. Many don't have a circle of friends in the area when they arrive, and they may not speak much English. With many not allowed to work, they often have time on their hands, and a desire and a need for therapeutic activities to help them find peace of mind.

The Blackheath Conservatoire Big Give Campaign is championed by Human Rights Fund.

“Making art is like meditation. For two hours I must focus on what I’m making with my hands. I can’t think about the news at home.” Anna, Ukraine.

“This class has helped me a lot in this difficult stage of my life. I am really grateful.” Maryam, Iran.

Yosef from Ethiopia describes his lessons as “Absolutely amazing!”

John Hudson, tutor: "It’s been a great pleasure to get to know Yosef. In a very short time, he’s progressed from complete beginner to a point where he’s able to play confidently. We've looked at music from various genres including, at his suggestion, some in Amharic. This isn’t music I’d have encountered had I not been teaching Yosef, so it's been an interesting cultural exchange from my point of view."
