Nicola Corrigan
Art

I have very wide experience as a textile designer/maker and illustrator. My work is decorative and illustrative incorporating painting, illustration, textiles and mixed media. Recent projects have included producing original painted and illustrated artworks, designing, creating textile products and accessories, cards, prints, and my own label printed tea towel and textile collection.

I have just written, illustrated and published a commissioned design and sewing book which will be launched in the autumn. This includes many inspirational new projects for fashion, home and accessories. I was also responsible for all the photography.

I have worked extensively in commercial design, producing paintings, illustrations, styling and trend forecasts for: textiles, ceramics, packaging, wallcoverings, tableware, tiles, paper goods, bedlinen, flooring, fashion fabrics and accessories. Notable design clients and projects include Harrods, Elizabeth Arden, NY, Laura Ashley, David Hicks and H and R Johnson tiles. I have worked extensively in the US market and had numerous Japanese and European clientele. I have worked as a lecturer in textile design and surface pattern design at the University of Wales, Cardiff, Northbrook College, West Sussex and St Martins. I currently teach children, adults and community arts for BAEC specialising in: textile design, painting, drawing, sewing, upcycling fabrics, crafts and creative writing.

My work is often decorative and illustrative, incorporating narrative themes and visual journaling with sketchbook work. My own label printed textile range incorporates themes such as decorative Babushkas, folk art, ceramics, food, flowers and paisleys. My manipulated textile work generally combines upcycled textiles, found objects and collaged themes.
