You can book group courses and holiday classes on our website, by phone or in person at the Conservatoire. Individual tuition bookings are made direct with the Tuition team and the process begins when you complete an enquiry form.
If there is availability in an alternative class we will be able to transfer your booking if you contact us by phone or in person. If the alternative class is a different price we will either provide a credit or take an additional payment as appropriate.
For safeguarding reasons, we are unfortunately unable to transfer bookings between students.
Term dates for the whole year are available here. Most group classes break for half term but dates for your specific class(es) will be confirmed by email. Individual tuition lessons continue through half term. We are generally closed on bank holidays and during Christmas.
Unfortunately, for safeguarding reasons, no photography or filming may be undertaken by students, parents or carers during group classes, events or tuition at the Conservatoire.
Group instrument classes (including Roundabout, Play! and adult group music classes): A full credit will be offered if notice of cancellation is received 1 month before the start of the course. Bookings cancelled after this date will not be credited.Holiday classes: We can only offer a credit if there is a waiting list for the course you booked. For safeguarding reasons we cannot transfer bookings between students.All other group courses: A credit will be offered for the remaining sessions if notice to withdraw is received before the second session.
Unfortunately, we do sometimes need to cancel a class, for example if a tutor is absent and we are unable to find cover at short notice. When this happens we will contact you as soon as possible and we will credit your Conservatoire account with the fee for that session.
Credits to your account are valid for 12 months from the date of issue and can be used in payment or part payment of any classes or tuition booked by the same payer.
If you log into your account via our customer portal you will be able to see your previous bookings and payments along with any credits you may have. If you make a booking via the portal your credits will automatically be deducted from the total due. You can also make bookings in person or by phone and our team will deduct any credits from the amount due before taking payment

We are unable to offer taster sessions. However, if you book a course and find that it is not suitable, please let us know after your first class and before the second so that we can withdraw you and offer you a credit for the remaining sessions. From time to time we hold open days which are an opportunity to sample some of our classes and we have short course programmes during half terms and summer holiday periods.

Lessons are of variable length depending on the age of the learner and the activity. Please see individual course details for further information.Individual Tuition lessons are generally 30-mins or 60-mins for more advanced learners.
Definitely! We hold multiple public concerts and arts exhibitions of student work each term. Please ask your individual tutor if you would like to take part in one of these events.
The Conservatoire is located at the southern end of Blackheath village, next door to Blackheath Halls. Please see our map to get Google directions.TrainWe are only a 5-minute walk from Blackheath Station. There are trains to/from Victoria and Cannon Street. BusThere are bus stops for the 54, 89, 108 and 202 bus just a 3-minute walk away.

There is no parking on the Conservatoire site, however there is short-term paid parking in the roads nearby and in the village. There is a pay and display car park at Blackheath Station Please note that dropping off or parking in the alleyway in between the Conservatoire and Blackheath Halls, or in Blackheath Halls car park, is not permitted.
Our art studios and some of our music rooms are on the ground floor and we have ramp entrances to both buildings. We haven’t been able to install a lift, but if you have any access needs please let us know so that we can ensure you have easy access to your classroom.
Unless in their individual tuition lesson, group class or holiday course, children in Year 5 or below should not be left unattended in the garden or in the Conservatoire buildings. Year 6 children can be unaccompanied and travel to and from the Conservatoire if you provide us with written consent. Children can be unaccompanied without consent from Year 7.
