We're looking forward to welcoming tutor Ivan Illingworth and his new quartet Holtág Quartet to their Free On Fridays debut. They will be playing Vaughan Williams' Quartet No.1, Maconchy's Quartet No.1 and Frank Bridge's arrangement of Londonderry Air.
The Holtág Quartet is a newly formed string quartet comprising students from Trinity Laban. Since their debut performing works by Haydn, Beethoven, and Glass, they have gone on to explore repertoire by Vaughan Williams, Maconchy, Shaw, and Bridge. Within their first year, the quartet were finalists in the 2025 Cavatina Intercollegiate Competition at Wigmore Hall, received the Sir John Barbirolli Prize for String Quartets at Trinity Laban, and made their debut on BBC Radio 3 In Tune. They are currently piloting the Ensemble Pathways course at Trinity Laban - a new diploma course specifically designed for chamber music.
All ages are welcome, including babies and children. Entry is free with no need to book and there is an optional retiring collection at the end - all donations go directly to the performers.
