ABRSM Exam Success!

The results are in from our latest ABRSM exam season, and we’re thrilled to report a 100% pass rate, with 76% of our students achieving Merit or Distinction!
Reaching the point of being ready to take an exam is an achievement in itself and we’re so proud of all our students who put their skills to the test. Their success is in no small part down to our wonderful tutors who put care, dedication and devotion in to sharing their skills and guiding burgeoning talent.
We’re also particularly thrilled that two of our Hearn Bursary students were among the high achievers this time around; another two feathers in the cap of our wonderful programme that helps to bring art and music to everyone.
Chiamaka (pictured above) had a few words to say about her exam results and lessons;
"I'm really so happy I got a distinction. I loved the lessons so much, I practiced a lot and did my homework. I was taught sight reading, how to use the pedal correctly on the Cloudy day song and the dynamics with the songs. I am already so excited to play the grade 3 songs."
Her mother Minelva also sent us a lovely note;
“I am so proud of Chiamaka and how far she has come. We are all so grateful to have had this opportunity for her to develop her skills. The amazing support at the Conservatoire in all areas is what lead to this marvellous outcome. From her first lesson at the Conservatoire, her interest and confidence in playing the piano has increased to the point that she is now considering playing professionally if she can. Thank you so much.”
We also heard from Augustine (aged 11) about his plans for the future after exam success;
"I really enjoy playing saxophone and learning different pieces of music is fun. My goal is to join my school's Jazz Band, which requires you to be in Grade 5. But I know if I continue to practice, I will get there (soon I hope!)."
His mother was thrilled too!
"I'm so delighted that my son is making such wonderful progress with saxophone lessons at The Conservatoire. More importantly, he is having fun learning and looks forward to his lesson every week. He joined his school's Wind Band this year and is working towards joining the school Jazz Band as well. Thank you for making music a part of my child's daily life."
Our Hearn Bursary Fund provides fully-funded places in individual music tuition and art or music groups at the Conservatoire for children of primary and secondary school age. These families face genuine financial barriers to participation, and without this funding would not be able to access this valuable creative educational outlet. We are incredibly grateful to The Hearn Foundation for enabling us to broaden our bursary programme and offer so many more creative enrichment opportunities for young people otherwise unable to access them.
