Conal Bembridge

Conal trained as a collaborative pianist at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where he held the position of Junior Piano Accompaniment Fellow. Beginning his career in the world of opera, Conal worked regularly with Welsh National Opera and Opera Vlaanderen in Belgium, whilst performing as a recital partner to many singers and instrumentalists, and preparing singers for roles at companies such as Glyndebourne, Opera North, ENO, and Scottish Opera. More recently, Conal’s focus has been on Musical Theatre where he enjoys coaching professional performers from the West End, UK and International Tours, and has worked as a Musical Director in major touring venues such as the Wales Millennium Centre and Birmingham Hippodrome.
As an educator, Conal has a broad set of experiences across schools, conservatoires, and national arts programmes in the UK and Europe. Having previously held positions as Head of Singing (University College School) and Head of Keyboard (Queen Elizabeth Hospital School) he is comfortable teaching both singing and piano to a wide range of learners. As well as a over a decade of experience teaching for the Junior RWCMD and WNO’s Community and Engagement Team,
Conal has worked at Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, Royal Academy of Music, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Wales Academy of Voice and Dramatic Arts, Cardiff and Bristol Universities. Currently, Conal holds the position of Senior Music Tutor at ArtsEd.
At the heart of Conal’s teaching is a belief that music has the power to bring people together and create communities. Conal is committed to widening access to the arts and sits on the board of the Awen Cultural Trust, who’s mission is to ‘make peoples lives better’ - something Conal hopes to do through his lessons!
