Sophie Baxter

Sophie Baxter is a cellist originally from Lincolnshire, currently studying a master’s degree at Trinity Laban with David Cohen and Sally Pendlebury.
She previously studied music at Durham University and has a PGCE in group instrumental learning awarded by the London based charity ‘Music Masters’.
She has previously been mentored by the London Symphony Orchestra and the orchestra of the Royal Opera House, and has worked as a graduate assistant at Wells Cathedral School and the Purcell School.
Sophie is also passionate about chamber music and has performed in distinguished venues such as Wigmore Hall with her piano trio.
Sophie values developing her pupils’ creativity and personal expression, and builds their cello technique so that they can play the cello in a healthy way, with maximum expression.
For teaching beginners, Sophie often teaches aurally in order to develop their cello technique and musicianship skills first, before emphasising music notation.
