Oran Cooch

Oran Cooch is a London-based drummer, percussionist, and multi-disciplinary educator with over a decade of dynamic experience performing, recording, and teaching across the UK.
Having worked with acclaimed artists including the Magic Drum Orchestra, BBC Introducing’s Amelia Rose, ARIE, and Ann Lui Cannon, Oran’s performance career has taken him to many of the country’s most prestigious stages, from WOMAD and The Great Escape Festival to Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and The Roundhouse (Camden), where he has shared the stage with Grammy-nominated Corinne Bailey Rae and Elbow’s Guy Garvey.
Alongside his performance work, Oran is deeply committed to music education and youth development. He has taught extensively with Lewisham Music, Royal Arsenal School of Music, and Blackheath Conservatoire, leading group, individual, and ensemble tuition. His teaching spans multiple disciplines, from drum kit and percussion to creative ensemble work, with an emphasis on confidence, expression, and musicianship.
Also an accomplished visual artist, Oran studied at Leeds College of Art, with his artwork exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery and Royal Academy Online Exhibition. His creative versatility extends to Irish traditional music, where he regularly performs on the bodhrán in London sessions alongside renowned players such as Mick O’Connor, John Gaughan, and Oli Steadman of Stornoway.
Oran brings energy, creativity, and a nurturing approach to every setting, helping young musicians discover their unique sound while developing strong technical and collaborative foundations.
