Harold Gordon-Smith
Music

Harold Gordon-Smith has completed a Masters Degree and Post Graduate Artist Diploma both with 1st class Honors and became the first Strings Player to achieve a 100% postgraduate final performance at Trinity Laban conservatoire in London. Now having performed in all continents and over 30 countries, Harold is a multi award-winning classical guitarist, receiving the the Cleave Montague Award for guitar, The Directors Prize of Excellence, 1st place in the Alison Stephens competition and 2nd place in Sarajevo Euro Strings international guitar competition. Harold performed solo at Kings Place main stage at the Trinity Laban Gold Medal show case representing the Strings department. A tree was planted in the National Forest to celebrate the performance and dedication to the guitar. An orchestral performance of Vivaldi was played at Latitude Festival and an opportunity to play the Rodrigo guitar concerto with the LSO was sadly lost due to covid. In February 2023 Harold was nominated for the Maise Lewis Award and to perform at Wigmore Hall. An album of JS Bach record by John Taylor is currently in the making with Naxos Recording Label.

Harold’s goal as a teacher is to help students build strong, positive habits that enable them to take the guitar as far as they wish—whether they’re playing for fun or aiming for a professional career. He believes students stay excited and motivated when they can clearly see their own progress. Over the years, he’s developed methods that create achievable goals at every level, packaged into fun and engaging lessons that foster both a sense of growth and a genuine love for playing.
